Netflix and Chill

The truly fabulous Game of Thrones series, has finally hit my household.  I received the DVD box set for Christmas so I am all over that right now.

Up until that point, my husband and I, would watch Netflix and Chill.  I casually mentioned to a friend, that this is what we do.  I’m no prude but I was very surprised to learn, that it meant we were ‘hooking up’.  In today’s social circles and media, Netflix and Chill, means watching a series with some sex on the side.  Pop on your chosen box-set and hop on your partner!

We literally, watch Netflix and Chill.  No booty calls, quickies or naked happy time of any kind.  We are both knackered and watching TV like zombies, most nights.  We have watched many great series.  However, the one program that everyone was talking about, was still on our to do list.

My husband had heard that Game of Thrones (GOT), was packed full of action, sword fighting, sex and dragons!  He thought that this lust-fuelled epic saga, would be a good watch and get my motor running.

GOT is an outstanding piece of television.  Truly gripping. Well bloody done!  There is definitely, eye candy aplenty, for both sides of the fence.  Lots of nudity and brothels, alongside the wars and battles to reign.  Passions running high, incest and families plotting against each other.  As we reached the end of season 5, I was a wreck.  I was sobbing uncontrollably into my wine glass.  Definitely not in the mood, to swing from the lampshade naked.

I seem to be one of the last people, in my circle, to watch GOT.  I do find myself asking my more informed friends “It’s gonna pick up right?”.  “Someone will have a happy ending?”.  On the sex side – “Will anyone be getting their seduction on?”.

I got my answer last night.  My friend just told me straight.

‘It’s like a constant punch in the face!’

So there you have it.  Expectations managed.  No happy endings.  No foreplay or romance.  More death.  I thought I would be annoyed but I’m too far gone.  I’m too addicted and need to see this through.  As personal life goals go, I’m aware that it’s all pretty pathetic.  However as I sit here, waiting for the DVD to load, I’m so excited!!!

Come on Game of Thrones!  Punch me in the face!
